Why you should seriously consider moving to Brisbane…
11th Apr, 2018
Is it that time? Do you have itchy feet from being in the same place for too long, or do you perhaps need a change of scenery and a fresh start?
We want to propose an idea to you: Brisbane.
Brisbane is the capital of Queensland and Australia’s third largest city by population, after Sydney and Melbourne. However, don’t be fooled, just because it’s smaller in size certainly doesn’t mean it lacks in anything else!
Well, for starters, the temperature rarely dips below 20°C, and on average there are 8.2 hours of sun a day – that’s pretty impressive!
Aside from the gorgeous weather, house prices in Brisbane are typically half the amount they are in Sydney, food staples are cheaper, and the economy is one of Australia’s strongest. There’s also more of a relaxed environment than in the likes of Sydney or Melbourne (because who needs more craziness after a long, hard shift?).
Life in Brisbane and Things to Do
More like, what can’t you do!
Brisbane has a reputation for its food and vibrant communities. It’s surrounded by national parks, within reach of the Sunshine Coast and the Gold Coast, you can visit Australia Zoo or one of the sand islands off its coast, and enjoy the activities that take place around the river, such as Sunsuper Riverfire.
Travel down the road less than an hour, and you can visit Australia’s largest outlet shopping centre, Harbour Town. There are plenty of places to shop within Brisbane too, like the Queen Street Mall and Wednesday Market, for example.
When it comes to transport in Brisbane, you want to get yourself a ‘go card’ from Translink. You just top it up and go, while getting the cheapest fares around!
Have a flick through the Lonely Planet’s article, ‘Best free things to do in Brisbane’ or Travefy’s, ‘7 Tourist Attractions You Definitely Should Not Miss in Brisbane’.
