Technically, we don’t ‘do’ Thanksgiving in the UK, but there’s something about a holiday that represents generosity, appreciation, and kindness that definitely appeals to us Brits.
Maybe that’s why Thanksgiving is slowly working its way into our culture. Perhaps not so much the historical element (because that belongs solely to America), but certainly the message behind it.
Plus, who doesn’t love an excuse to make pies with leftover Halloween pumpkins? They’re delicious and good for the environment.
At Your World, we like to acknowledge the cultural holidays and festivals from all over the planet. Why? Because our healthcare system is made up of people from all walks of life and lots of different countries.

That’s why this year, we’ll be celebrating Thanksgiving in our own unique way. No, we’re not sending turkeys to NHS Trusts or pumpkin pies to GP practices (although we’re pretty sure they’d be well received by hungry staff). Instead, we’ll be paying visits to some of our most deserving healthcare workers and surprising them with special gifts of thanks.

In addition to showing our appreciation for hard-working healthcare staff, we’ll also be introducing some ‘kudos cards’ to our London head office. Your Worlders will have the opportunity to write messages of thanks to colleagues on the cards, which will be distributed on Thanksgiving.
We can’t wait to see some of the lovely messages of appreciation our team sends to each other.
