22nd August saw the Your World team head to the midlands for our first Open Day of the year in the Midlands region.

Birmingham welcomed us with great, sunny weather and energetic city centre. When we got to the venue, we were greeted by Tony, who was looking after us on behalf of the Birmingham City Football Club.

The venue - The Legends Lounge of St. Andrews Stadium! Boasting a great open space, with the walls portraying pictures of great players who performed for the club draped from ceiling to the floor. It was set up perfectly to our needs, with a reception, seating space with large round tables and chairs for our candidates to complete registration forms, along with a training area with the projector and a large screen. There was also a separate box upstairs for phlebotomy services.

The first candidates started arriving at around 8:45 and were gathering downstairs at the club's reception. Registration packs were being handed out smoothly and candidates sat down to complete the necessary paperwork. There was tea, coffee and pastries provided by the hosts throughout the whole morning, with lunch being served from 12:30. Needless to say they were delicious sandwiches and out-of-this-world potato wedges (some of the best I've ever had!).

It was great to see how pleasant and hassle-free registration with our agency can be. Everyone had a smile on their faces. It's worth to mention that some of our existing candidates turned up to say hello to their consultants - there were hugs and hand-shakes making amazing atmosphere.

The day in numbers:

  • 45 candidates attended
  • 31 candidates completed Manual Handling training
  • 35 candidates completed Basic Life Support training
  • 20+ blood samples taken
  • 65+ happy faces on the day - including candidates, Your World staff and venue providers

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our candidates, Your World staff and the catering team of Birmingham City FC for making this event happen. You were all great and a special mention to Caroline Bvute and the Training Team, who ran six consecutive Basic Life Support and Manual Handling training sessions from 9:30am!
